Hudson Yards, New York City

Hudson Yards, New York City

The largest real estate development in Unites States history is about to open in New York City as a self contained city of it’s own. Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center.  It is changing the look of New York as well as the way the world looks at New York. The site will include one million square feet of retail and mixed use space, 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, more than 100 shops including New York’s first Neiman Marcus, restaurants curated by Chef Thomas Keller, 14 acres of gardens, plazas and playgrounds, and state of the art office towers as well as approximately 4,000 residences. The innovation and advancements of Hudson Yards is an exquisite example of forward thinking in real estate development. There have been some criticisms regarding this project as well as a lot of praise. The criticism stems from those that believe that it looks ‘too clean, too flat, too art-directed” as New York Magazine’s Justin Davidson believes. Others are welcoming the addition to New York City’s skyline. Time will tell whether these self-contained working/living spaces will alter our work/life balance.
